Açıklama
Illumination, which literally means “gilding,” has endured to the present day as a branch of traditional arts. With a history spanning centuries, this art has continued to evolve.
Great efforts have been made to teach and preserve the art of illumination, which has been refined over centuries through the stylistic technique that emerged as a manifestation of our ancient civilization’s understanding of divine unity, reaching its most mature and classical forms. As this endeavor has continued through the master-apprentice relationship and the meşk method, a guidebook has always been needed.
This book aims to provide basic information on the concepts of illumination and the requirements of design and composition. It includes a definition and brief history of the art, along with information about the tools and materials used. Using examples of classical illumination, it seeks to explain how to describe, draw, and color lines, leaves, penç motifs, goncagül motifs, hataî motifs, çintemani motifs, compositions and their features, borders and zencerek patterns, tığ motifs, münhani motifs, and semi-stylized floral designs.
