Written in 1197 by Nizami Ganjavi, one of the greatest poets of 12th-century Persian literature, this classic work tells the captivating story of Bahram Gur, emperor of the Sasanian Empire. The young prince Bahram discovers portraits of seven princesses from seven different lands (India, Byzantium, China, Persia, etc.) in a secret room in the legendary Havarnaq Palace and falls in love with them all. After becoming king, he seeks out the princesses and marries them, then has seven domes built, each representing a different color and planet. He visits a different dome each day of the week, and each princess tells him magical, enlightening stories.

Why You Should Read It:
Comparable to "One Thousand and One Nights," this masterpiece is not merely a love story but a profound allegorical work exploring universal values such as wisdom, justice, patience, and self-discovery. With its rich symbolism, captivating storytelling, and timeless themes, it is one of the classics of world literature. An inspiration for Puccini's opera "Turandot," this work is one of the most precious gems of Eastern literature and a universal masterpiece that appeals to readers of all ages.
