Postmodern Oxymoron: The Left and the New CHP - Ahmet Koyuncu | Turkish Book
Ahmet Koyuncu's work, "Postmodern Oxymoron: The Left and the New CHP," is a courageous Turkish book that addresses the decay and rot within the Turkish left through the example of the New CHP. Contrary to the original leaders of the modern age, such as Ecevit and Gandhi, it is argued that the postmodern era is the age of photocopy leaders and fake Gandhis, such as Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Ahmet Koyuncu introduces figures like Canan Kaftancıoğlu, Ekrem İmamoğlu, Sezgin Tanrıkulu, Mehmet Bekaroğlu, and Eren Erdem as the finest examples of this "oxymoron" structure.

The book provides an analysis through trans-political examples within the New CHP that appear contemporary, intellectual, and Kemalist, yet survive thanks to sectarian, parochial, and feudal structures. These structures are examined in detail through the example of İlhan Cihaner. The book, which also explores the concept of the HALO EFFECT, discusses the decay and rot in the media through left-wing newspapers like Cumhuriyet and Sözcü—which kowtow to Acun Ilıcalı—and journalists like Yılmaz Özdil.

While Ahmet Koyuncu analyzes the elitist-looking social Darwinists of the male-dominated neo-liberal era through the example of Fatih Altaylı, he also describes the overlooked aspects of neo-colonial schools, brain drain, and neo-colonial psychology. With astonishment, the book presents to its readers a totally decayed and rotten society consisting of leftists, journalists, intellectuals, and the educated elite who blame everything on Tayyip Erdoğan and absolve themselves by making him a scapegoat.
