“Snow and writing… One falls in thick flakes onto the orphaned skin of the earth; the other becomes an avalanche from the alphabet in the hearts of those who fall silent in thick flakes, kissing wounded moments at their most painful points, sentence by sentence. The art of writing is, in truth, wise hopes hidden in the attic of life. Just as no two snowflakes descending to earth are alike, the feelings of those who volunteer for the act of writing are not alike either; yet their refuge or voluntary surrender is to the same place. That is, to the truth!.. In ‘Lapa Lapa Yâr’ (Thickly Falling Beloved), hearts that distill stories into their ink accompanied the enthusiasm of every single snowflake. Some wrote of the snow falling upon those nursing their orphanage in the back streets of a story, some of the frost remaining on the embroidery hoop of their childhood, some of the compassion wrapped around the necks of snowmen with a rope woven from words, some of the hopeful gazes escaping from the windows of pirated sorrows, and some of the winter deliriums that slipped into the eyes of the night.” Mehtap Altan Author/Poet/Editor
