Calligraphy, the aesthetics of faith. The metaphysics of letters…
A realm of writing refined over the centuries, taking on color and putting down roots within itself.
And within the centuries of the Ottoman Empire, an immortal art that acquired sanctity as well as a distinctive style.
And pen, ink, paper…
And color, style, technique… The starting and ending points of the letters, the way the pen is held, and patience… And the incomparable works it gazes upon with admiration…
For centuries, calligraphic panels have adorned mosques, madrasas, palaces, dervish lodges, and homes. Quite apart from their pricelessness, these days they are even exhibited in art galleries in the world’s major cities.
This book explores the many details of calligraphy, its history, and its masters. An invitation to journey from the classical eras into modern times.
A paradise of letters and compositions in the continuity of existence and becoming…
