My mother's words, “You'll understand me when you have a child of your own,” still ring in my ears. How right she was! I remember so clearly saying, “I’ll never be like my mother!” back then. But now, when I look at myself, I see that I’m practically her spitting image. How well do we really know our mothers? Sometimes mothers do things and offer advice that we can’t make sense of—what might be behind them? I sometimes remember my mother sitting with her hands clasped in her lap, lost in thought. I wonder what she was thinking about. She must have had her own wishes, dreams, and hopes, but how much of them did she share with us? The relationship between a mother and child is the closest and most fundamental relationship in the world. Even though our mother is the person closest to us, there are sides of her we’ve never known. So, how well do we really know our mothers? This little booklet gives you a chance to get to know your mother, even if only a little. It brings to light the sides of her you’ve never known and introduces the two of you all over again.
